Less Is More - Week 12 - Off Centre

Happy Easter!

I haven't had much time for crafting or blogging lately but now I have a week and a half off work so I'm planning to spend some time making things. Yesterday I completed the mammoth task of tidying my craft table and now it's lovely and neat, with plenty of space for making things!

It's time for another challenge over at Less Is More. This week it is a recipe card and the recipe is "Off Centre". Chrissie and Mandi are asking us to make "cards with little or no symmetry but perfect balance, which doesn't necessarily mean gems in all four corners, or any corners for that matter". This is my card:

I've used some design paper from My Mind's Eye True Blue collection, and the stamp is by Basic Grey, stamped in VersaFine. I couldn't resist adding some brown/white baker's twine as well.

Nice and easy!

Hope you're all enjoying the long weekend and having some of the glorious sunshine we have here!

More Easter cards

I've been working on Easter cards this weekend - I don't really celebrate Easter these days but it has always been a card-sending occasion in my family so there are a few people I send cards to every Easter.

I've been working with a super simple layout. I thought it would be fun to show two cards made out of the same elements but with one being clean & white and the other more vintagey with a kraft base. All stamps are from Waltzingmouse Stamps and colouring in has been done with ProMarkers.

I'm also entering these for the Simon Says Stamp Challenge where this week's theme is Spring Colours and/or Easter cards.

Creative Girl

Hello, Blogland!

It's been a busy week of all kinds of things - some very exciting but I can't talk about them yet before they are confirmed... It was also my birthday this week. And then yesterday I went to the Big Stamp & Scrapbooking Show at Alexandra Palace, London. So many craft goodies to see and shop!

Earlier this week I got my order from Unity Stamp, including my new favourite stamp by Suzi Blu. So I wanted to do something inky and vintagey with it, and made this to hang on my craft room door.

It's actually a page from a Tim Holtz Grunge Book. I sprayed it with Cosmic Shimmer sprays, inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and also stamped some printed text over it (from Glitz Distress Stamps set, one of my purchases from yesterday's show). The girl is stamped on cream cardstock, cut out and inked with Vintage Photo and Broken China. The flowers are Prima (also inked to age). Buttons and twine from The Ribbon Girl, the ribbon is vintage ribbon I picked up yesterday.

The text on the stamp says "I am a creative girl. I have the right to make my mark. I deserve a rewarding creative life." Love it so much!

Bee Bookmark

Over on UK Stampers forum I took part in a bookmark swap.

After a couple of failed attempts, this is what I came up with:

The background is sponged with Distress Inks (some through sequin waste to create the pattern). I then stamped the Memory Definition stamp from Catslife Press a couple of times across it. The bee stamp (from Inkadinkado) is stamped in brown VersaFine and embossed with clear embossing powder. The bookmark is finished off with some brown organza ribbon and seam binding (Distress Inked to match).

I hope my swap recipient doesn't have a phobia of bees or anything...

Less Is More - Week 9 - A touch of red

It's already week 9 over on the Less Is More challenge blog. This week is a Colour Challenge week, and the challenge is to create a card with "a touch of red".

All the stamps I've used are from Waltzingmouse Stamps Teeny Trees set. It's a really versatile set with the tree trunks, leaves and apples, among other things, all as individual stamps. I've stamped the trees with Memento Inks and Versafine. I added some Glossy Accents on top of the apples to make them look really juicy and round.

And of course I did two things I do with most of my cards at the moment - wrapped some baker's twine around it and rounded the bottom corners of the card!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend and enjoying some sunshine! It's been gorgeous here in London!
