It's time for another challenge over on Less Is More, this time a One Layer Card. I haven't taken part in a few weeks but this week's theme "In The Frame" was a chance to try out a technique I saw in the latest issue of Craft Stamper magazine (Emy Buxton's article, Craft Stamper July 2011). That is, stamping a frame with the use of a mask.
This is my card
I used a square post-it note as my mask and stamped around it with flower stamps from Personal Impressions (they are clear stamps so I could see exactly how I was overlapping them). I used a summery selection of colours of Memento Inks, and then finally stamped the sentiment (from Hero Arts) in black.
Super easy to make and the effect is really fun! I'm thinking snowflakes for winter holiday cards, and leaves for autumn and even Easter eggs for spring... The Craft Stamper article uses this technique on a scrapbooking page so it's not just for cards either. And of course the mask could be any shape - how about a heart mask with small heart stamps for Valentine's Day!
I really love when a simple technique can create something pretty cool. So many techniques involve x, y and z products and tools so it's refreshing to be able to just reach for stamps, inks and a post-it note!
I'm looking forward to a crafty weekend - just have to tidy up my craft desk first to make some space to work in. I have a card-sized space there at the moment...
